Hepatitis Testing Day

May 19, 2023

Hepatitis Testing Day is May 19 each year.

Millions of Americans have chronic viral hepatitis; most of them do not know they are infected. Hepatitis Testing Day, first observed in 2012, was designated as a national observance in the Action Plan for the Prevention, Care, and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis as part of broader efforts to raise awareness of the silent epidemic of viral hepatitis in the United States.

The list of the hepatitis C test sites that the Ohio Dept. of Health supports is found on a link on the left-hand side of this webpage.

In addition, May is designated as Hepatitis Awareness Month in the United States. During May, agencies and offices across the federal government as well as state and local partners work to shed light on this hidden epidemic by raising awareness of viral hepatitis and encouraging priority populations to get tested. The CDC Viral Hepatitis website has a lot of great materials including buttons and badges to use on your emails and website. Some of them link people to an online questionnaire to see if they should be tested or vaccinated for hepatitis. See here.
