Study of nPEP resources in emergency rooms

AIDS Funding Collaborative funded study of non-occupational PEP resources (nPEP)

The AIDS Funding Collaborative (a program of the The Center for Community Solutions) funded a study by a CWRU/UH medical school student and an ER doctor to look at the need for non-occupational exposure PEP (nPEP) resources in emergency departments. Similar to PrEP, nPEP provides urgent consultation for those who might have been exposed to HIV in the past 72 hours, possibly prescribing a 28-day regimen of 3-drug anti-HIV meds to prevent infection, as well as STI testing and follow-up (linkage to care, perhaps PrEP).
