Community Advisory Board w/Professor Jacquelyn Slomka PhD RN

September 8, 2015

CWRU/UH AIDS Clinical Trials Unit
Community Advisory Board Meeting
September 8, 2015, 6:00 pm

Please join us in welcoming our special guest at our upcoming Community Advisory Board. Jacquelyn Slomka, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor of Nursing, CWRU Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing will provide an update on her study being conducted here in Cleveland. Dr. Slomka is the lead researcher on a multi-year study looking at the benefits of palliative care home health visits for people living with HIV and other chronic illnesses.

In describing the study, Dr. Slomka said, “With new medications, HIV is no longer a death sentence. Patients with HIV are living longer, and, like other older people, developing chronic health conditions. Palliative care services can be especially helpful in meeting the everyday needs of patients with chronic conditions.”

At the meeting, Dr. Slomka will provide an update on the study and answer questions about the possible consequences from this and similar research.

Dinner is served at the CAB meeting. Free parking and RTA passes are available. CAB meetings begin at 6:00 pm and end on or before 7:30 pm.
